Think Like a Monk

I love reading books but I don't really have a good relationship with self help books. I have started quite many but I always fail to finish them because all of them have so much of information about how to live my life or how to behave or how to be successful or live longer or earn money etc etc that at the end of the day I feel overwhelmed with the information and end up following none of the suggested stuff. So when I read self help books instead of getting motivated, I get in self doubt.

But this write up is not about me hating self help books but instead to shout out the one I really loved. It's called "Think like a Monk by Jay Shetty".

Absolute treat to read and be a part of this amazing journey Jay takes you through. But the best part is those little grey boxes, they are my favorite. Basically after every topic, there is a task defined in a grey box and I make these small sticky notes where I write the completed task, it's fun as well as enlightening. I learnt so much about my own self because of those tasks that it's mindfucking to realise that I don't even know myself yet properly. The book is beautifully written with such relatable anecdotes that it seems like it's written just for you, those are the best kinds right?

In short, a great book if you are looking for a grounded motivation and as always gonna end it with my favourite line from the book.

"The more we define ourselves in relation to the people around us, the more lost we are."
